Boxing legend Arturo Gatti’s sexy stripper-wife choked the life out of him with her purse strap while he slept in a swanky Brazilian resort, cops charged Sunday.

Amanda Carine Barbosa Rodrigues, a 23-year-old former exotic dancer, looked unfazed as cops escorted her out of a police station in Recife, Brazil.

The stunner’s eyes were hidden by giant designer sunglasses as she walked to a police cruiser in low-rise blue jeans and a clingy white top that showed off the toned physique that first caught Gatti’s eye.

The busty bombshell’s purse was found stained with blood in their rented apartment at the luxurious Dorisol Resort in the turquoise-water paradise town of Porto de Galinhas.

“She is the only suspect,” a police spokesman said.

The couple – who had met while she danced at a club in Brazil – were vacationing there to celebrate a second honeymoon after rekindling their relationship following a brief breakup, friends said.

Carl Moretti, who promoted many of Gatti’s fights, said he always worried the 37-year-old former Jersey City star spent too much time in strip clubs picking up the wrong women.

“Among friends who knew him, no one felt that this was a good relationship,” Moretti said. “The relationship was not based on love. It could get violent at times.”

Moretti said he had heard through Gatti’s manager, Pat Lynch, that Rodrigues threw a lamp at Gatti on a recent trip to Montreal.

“They were always fighting,” he said. “It never stopped. But clearly, you didn’t think that it would lead to this.”

Charles Barkley is giving his money away again. No, no, no, don’t judge! This time, instead of feeding quarters into some slot machine or doubling-down on 14 at the blackjack table, Barkley’s picked up the tuition for a busboy at a restaurant in Philly. From the Philadelphia Daily News:

“Sir Charles told [Christian] Abate he would like to help him with his tuition, and Abate wasn’t sure how to respond. Barkley didn’t give him much time, telling Abate that he had the length of Barkley’s meal to decide. Abate wisely accepted.

“He’s a nice kid,” Barkley said of Abate on Friday. “He was working with kids, I loved that he wanted to be a teacher, and I wanted to help him,” Barkley told us by phone between stops on a flight to Reno where he was making a speech.

While the little-more-than-15% tip may seem particularly special, it’s not so unusual for Sir Charles. In fact, the lovable goof has given at least $3 million to schools and education in his home state of Alabama. He’s a giver, not a golfer.

As SportsByBrooks so eloquently put it, Barkley is just like Robin Hood: “He tries to take from the rich, but since he’s not very good at it, he gives to the poor out of his own pocket.” So noble. Thump Bump, Chuck.

The Center will provide services for premature babies and their families in Central Florida throughout the child’s developmental years. You get one NFL Truth today. Watching Chad Johnson and Larry Johnson undermine their respective head coaches, Marvin Lewis and Herm Edwards, on Sunday gave me a singular focus, forced me to contemplate an uncomfortable truth.
African-American football players caught up in the rebellion and buffoonery of hip hop culture have given NFL owners and coaches a justifiable reason to whiten their rosters. That will be the legacy left by Chad, Larry and Tank Johnson, Pacman Jones, Terrell Owens, Michael Vick and all the other football bojanglers.

In terms of opportunity for American-born black athletes, they’re going to leave the game in far worse shape than they found it.

It’s already starting to happen. A little-publicized fact is that the Colts and the Patriots — the league’s model franchises — are two of the whitest teams in the NFL. If you count rookie receiver Anthony Gonzalez, the Colts opened the season with an NFL-high 24 white players on their 53-man roster. Toss in linebacker Naivote Taulawakeiaho “Freddie” Keiaho and 47 percent of Tony Dungy’s defending Super Bowl-champion roster is non-African-American. Bill Belichick’s Patriots are nearly as white, boasting a 23-man non-African-American roster, counting linebacker Tiaina “Junior” Seau and backup quarterback Matt Gutierrez.
